Here’s Everything You Missed When Chimamanda Hosted Lupita Nyongo’o in Lagos

Award-winning Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Adichie over the weekend hosted Hollywood superstar actress, Lupita Nyong’o in Lagos.

As expected, the event was strictly-by-invitation and was graced by everyone of note in a number of industries. From writers to media practitioners and the usual music and Nollywood faces like D’banj, Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Omawumi, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Toolz, Femi Kuti, Seun Kuti, Ebuka, Flavour, Bovi and a lot more, and we mean a lot more! So why is Chimamanda hosting Lupita? If you have been following the news you’d know that the Kenya-born actress is a big fan of Adichie’s 2013 book and bought the rights to make the motion picture version as far back as 2014.

Now Americanah the book has been transformed into a drama miniseries by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Lupita Nyong’o featured in the ten-episode HBO series directed by Danai Gurira. All good stuff! Aren’t we proud of Chimamanda?

Lupita revealed that part of the movie deal was that parts of it will be shot in Lagos, so don’t be surprised when you meet Lupita Nyong’o, Zackary Momoh, Uzo Aduba, Corey Hawkins, Danai Gurira or Chinonye Chukwu in the streets of Lagos. Naija News Today

She also made it known that she is learning Igbo and Pidgin English in order to play the role of Ifemelu from the book which won Chimamanda the 2013 National Book Critics Circle Fiction award.
